Overview
DX 208 is a mung bean in Zinbioseed's crop seed range.
Mung bean is grown for its dry beans, used in sweet soups, cakes, bean paste and bean sprouts. As a legume it fixes nitrogen and breaks pest cycles, making it a valuable rotation crop between rice or corn seasons.
Key features
- Short crop cycle that fits between main-season crops
- Fixes nitrogen, leaving richer soil for the next crop
- Dry beans for food processing and bean-sprout markets
Growing guide
- LandChoose well-drained land: mung bean does not tolerate waterlogging. Raise the beds in wet areas.
- SowingSow 2–3 seeds per hill, about 3 cm deep, and thin to 1–2 plants per hill.
- FertiliserA modest basal dose of phosphorus and potassium with a little nitrogen at sowing is usually enough for a legume.
- PestsWatch for pod borers, aphids and leaf-eating caterpillars at flowering and pod set.
- HarvestPick pods as they turn black, in two or three rounds, or harvest once when most pods are mature; dry and thresh promptly.
